Description[]

Alastyr is a medium built high-elf artificer who carries himself excitedly and enthusiastically. He has dark green eyes, dark blonde hair with silver streaks, and steampunk goggles sit atop his head. Strange runes are tattooed on his hands, and he wears a vest underneath a labcoat. His clothes don't seem super high-end and a bit dirty. He wears a utility belt around his waist which holds various things like coins and snacks. Additionally, he has many rings on his fingers.

In the city of Bubbletrench, his goggles had a copper wire frame with blueish-green seaglass lenses.

Personality[]

Alastyr acts much more childish than his age would suggest. He is very curious, trusting and he acts on a whim. His quick thinking is both a blessing and a curse to the Convergence Crew. Alastyr also tries to befriend both people and animals he meets on the way, which also sometimes manages to get him in trouble.

While at the beginning Alastyr is very excited about having adventures, his enthusiasm dims as the campaign progresses. In the City of Nightmares is when he first realizes not all adventure is so fun, revealing to Kasper that adventuring isn't turning out to be quite what he thought it was going to.

Despite this, Alastyr remains positive for the most part, still trying to see the good in every person, creature or situation he comes across.

Background/History[]

Alastyr isn't eager to talk about his past. Every time he is asked about it, he begins making up a new outlandish story, which always coincidentally overlaps with some superhero's origin story, which he always eventually backs out on, not wanting to actually mislead people.

The first and only time we learn about his background is during a conversation he has with Flynn during episode 9. He tells Flynn that he comes from a family in which everyone had magical abilities and he was the only outcast - the only way he could cast magic was through brewing potions. He also revealed his real name isn't Alastyr Cross, but Fulman Trescount. He didn't share this information with anyone besides Flynn.

Alastyr makes a comeback in a later JRWI campaign, Prime Defenders, under the name Professor Cross. He is older, as well as more disheveled and "mad". It's unclear what events caused him to end up there.

Relationships[]

Flynn Gustwind[]

Alastyr and Flynn are good friends - their relationship is often interpreted to be brotherly. They are the closest in age out of the whole gang.

They seem to trust each other the most out of the whole group, sharing secrets with each other that no one else from the crew knows and coming to each other for advice. While they don't always see eye to eye, they definitely understand each other the most out of the whole gang. Flynn was the first to truly comfort Alastyr about what went down with the City of Nightmares samples he took with him that ultimately led to them losing the golden eggs.

Kasper[]

Alastyr and Kasper have a father-son like relationship.

Kroe Wyse[]

Alastyr and Kroe are friends. Because of their significant age difference, Kroe seems to take on a more caring role in regards to Alastyr.

Trivia[]

  • Alastyr seems to have a knack for arson, although many of the times it is not intentional.
  • Alastyr likes animals and will adopt and name anything that is small and animal-like, even when it is clearly not meant to be kept as a pet.
  • Alastyr's real name, Fulman Trescount, doesn't have any deeper thought behind it - Bizly, Alastyr's player, mentioned getting the name from a fantasy name generator.
