"Peepaw be getting down, yes?" - Finn mere seconds after finding out the only book Gillion read of his was about sex.
Finn Tidestrider is a triton cleric, grandfather of Gillion Tidestrider, and former Black Rose Pirate. While played by Slimecicle (Charlie) in the The Hole in the Sea, he is now currently an NPC played by GrizzlyPlays (Grizzly).
Description[]
Appearance[]
Finn Tidestrider is a short and stocky Triton. He appears weathered and well travelled. He has long green hair and facial hair, with various seashells, little creatures and crustaceans in it. He has green, slightly sunken in eyes. He wears large light blue robes with golden accents and with a large golden symbol of an octopus with outreaching tentacles on the front.
As of Episode 83: All Hands on Deck, he appears between 150-160 years old appearing "near the end of a triton's lifespan". The crustaceans decorating his hair have withered and died.
Personality[]
Finn Tidestrider is motivated by knowledge, having left the Undersea to further his research beyond the limits of the sea. He is playful with his grandson, Gillion, as shown by fond memories between the two and the various jokes Finn makes to Gillion.
Background/History[]
Finn was a scholar who did extensive research mostly on sea creatures within the Undersea, and was an instructor or tutor for Undersea history and the likes for Triton students. He had left his home rather abruptly due to his ambitions and urge to find more and learn more about the entire world, not just in the Undersea. He may have not told his family exactly about his departure, as in a flashback he was shown packing his things quickly, and when confronted by a colleague who was taking a young Gillion Tidestrider to see him for extra lessons, Gillion appeared very surprised by Finn's decision to leave. After leaving his home, Finn had picked up a side hobby or job of writing as seen in a book created by him found on Desire Island. Along with this, he joined a crew of famous pirates known as the Black Rose Pirates, and spent a subsequent amount of time with them before the disastrous event that ended up with his and most of the crew's disappearance.
In Episode 83: All Hands on Deck, it was revealed that Finn had in fact been Apple, a bluebird who had been with the Riptide Pirates since the early days of their journey. He was turned back into a triton form after the transmutation spell was lifted. He was unconscious for a number of days as he recovered until Episode 93: Legend Lore when he awoke after Gillion used the Bracelets of Mindreading on him. The spell that transformed him into a bird is called Finn's Repose and was homebrewed by him roughly a hundred years ago.
As of Episode 115: The Last Chapter, Finn left the Black Sea with Jay, Queen, Igneous, Alphonze, and Earl. He is expected to stay in Zero rather than travelling with Jay.
Trivia[]
- Three books of his have been found by Gillion Tidestrider. Rose-Colored Spectacles (which details his many intimate exploits), Wonderful Wet World (about oceanic creatures), and Dark Puckered Hole, which details Finn's sexual exploits, specifically with men.
