Jayson Ferin is the father of Jay Ferin and an extremely respected, powerful navy vice admiral. As an NPC, he is played by Grizzlyplays, aka Grizzly.

Jayson Ferin is a tall, broad-shouldered human man with bright orange-red hair tightly tied back, the sides shaved. He has fiery red eyes and a square, masculine face with a strong and slightly protruding jaw. He carries a very stern and disciplined disposition. He wears a decorated white navy suit with a frilled jacket hanging off his shoulders like a cape, with a red vest and golden tie beneath and gold shoulder pads.
When using his fire-like magic, his eyes glow bright orange and his hair ignites like a torch, skin becoming golden and swirled along with his suit as fire burns over his limbs. He is able to extend his limbs into balls of flames and create flaming spears that melt into the victims to further inflict burns.
Personality[]
Jayson is a very stoic and well-conducted vice-admiral of the Navy. He is also cold, angry, and terrifying to those beneath him. He looks down on pirates as nothing more than scum and would hurt or maim his own family members to "discipline" them if they chose the pirate life.
He despises all pirates regardless of their morality and actions. This could be in part because of his brother leaving them to join a pirate crew, simply because of the Navy having a prejudice against them, or because it is implied a pirate(s) killed Ava. Whatever the case, his hatred of them is unrelenting enough to abandon his brother in The Block weeks after Drey managed to return to the surface and attack Jay, Chip, and Gillion for Jay's disobedience. Even when returning to The Block to finally release Drey in Episode 53: Not Ferin Well, he did not hesitate to attack his already wounded brother for the same reason he attacked the Riptide Pirates.
Background/History[]
The father of two daughters (that we know of), Jayson served in the Navy for the majority of his life, as did his relatives before and after him. While married to Malenia, he did not spend a lot of time with her in their home or at their tavern on Featherbrook Island due to being busy with his navy affairs though he was often close by at Quill Island which is connected to it. With her, he had two daughters -- Ava and Jay. Not much is known about Ava as she, unfortunately, was killed before the events of Riptide. He is a brother to a member of the famous Blackrose Pirates crew, Drey Ferin, but resents said brother for being a pirate and turning away from the family's navy lifestyle.
Ingrained with a strict military mindset, Jayson is a stern and unforgiving parent and admiral. He was enough of an overbearing and unsympathetic figure in Jay's life, that she continuously has night terrors related to him and the rest of the navy, and when confronted by him she begins to act entirely uncharacteristic - becoming stiff, silent, and scared.
Trivia[]
- Jay has mentioned to Captain Lizzie that Jayson was known to "break things" in her childhood, including shooting her toy doll with one of his guns at one point, suggesting he was quite the violent and cruel person even when Jay was very young, even before Ava's death.
