Kira Ref

Official reference of Kira, art by @RenRooked.

Kira is a mancore woman with snowy white skin. She has long, wavy, iridescent white hair that is worn in a half ponytail. Poking out of the top of her head is a shimmery golden horn which she uses to cast magic. She wears a navy captain’s uniform, which consists of a long-sleeved white button up shirt with ruffles on the cuffs. She wears a red underbust corset decorated with brown beltstraps, including some that go over her shoulders like suspenders. On her shoulders she wears a long navy coat: white on the oustide, red lining and cuffs, golden pronounced shoulder pads, and orange tassels. She wears high waisted tight white pants, with black lacing on the sides of the thights and gold buttons. On her left leg she has a brown belt strap that sits above her thigh-high, lace up black boots with gold, armor-like plating. Her primary weapon is a golden magical gun, and she speaks in the real-world equivalent of an Australian accent.

Personality[]

While she is R.A.F.T. affiliated, Kira wants to do everything she can to make positive changes in the world. She believes that the Navy can make this change, and while she doesn’t agree with everything they do she wants to change it from the inside. She is sarcastic and often chatty and relaxed, even in battle. She is open minded, and was willing to help the pirates even though she had been taught pirates were bad her whole life. She is much more forgiving than many of her coworkers, opting to reason with opponents and take prisoners over killing enemies. It’s noted that she held back when she knew that the pirates had a child, Ollie, on the ship with them. She respects authority, and will follow direct orders but is still willing to go against regulations for the good of others even at her own expense. She is a very talented soldier, with prowess in sailing, manning cannons, and commanding a crew of soldiers.

Background/History[]

Similarly to Jay, Kira was raised in the Navy. Jay was her childhood friend, and Kira excelled in many places where Jay fell short. Unlike Jay, she completed her Navy training and went on to become a high ranking captain.

She first appears in Episode 90: 21 Ton Salute under the command of Kuba Kenta. With his help, she led a surprise attack on the Riptide Pirates. She and Jay recognized each other and fought briefly, and Kira expressed surprise that Jay had become a pirate. She said didn’t want to hurt Jay, but she would arrest her. The fight escalated quickly with Gillion pile-driving Kuba Kinta through the wooden floor of All-Port and into the sea. The admiral died on impact, and Kira dove into the water to try to retrieve his body. She didn’t notice the very heavy anchor Gillion had placed in his coat pocket, and not being able to lift him up, swam back to the surface. Chip, Jay, and Gillion retrieved the body and when they returned to the surface Kira offered them an ultimatum: hand over the admiral’s body and she would surrender, or they could continue fighting. After some discussion the crew decided to return Kenta’s body, and Kira let them go- not before questioning Jay’s decision to sail with such violent crewmates.

Kira later contacted Jay telepathically, saying she was off the clock and had peaceful intentions. Jay was hesitant at first, but Kira’s motives seemed goodhearted. Kira wanted to meet with Jay in person, and Jay refused but agreed to speak with her after returning Ollie to his home.

Kira's next appearance was in Episode 100: Hot Dads in Your Area, where she attacked the Albatross at sea, now under the command of Vice Admiral Jayson Ferin. It’s revealed she previously wanted to speak with Jay to warn her of the ambush. Kira manned her own sailing ship, and had command of the soldiers on the boat. Kira got into one on one combat with Gryffon, and beat him soundly. When Jayson abandoned the battle, she retreated with an unconscious Gryffon on her ship. Jay made chase retrieve Gryffon's body. Jay and Kira spoke briefly, and Jay told Kira of her intentions to travel to the Black Sea. Kira warned Jay not to go, explaining that the Beyond Section was a Navy trap to lure pirates into the Black Sea. Jay was adamant about going, and when Kira realized she wouldn’t be able to convince her she offered help getting into All-Port. Jay refused, reasoning that she didn’t want Kira to put herself at risk for them. Kira agreed, and they traded hostages and went their separate ways. It’s unclear whether Kira really did speak to the All-Port guards to help them get in.
