"What the fuck is that?!" - La Alma, upon seeing Earl for the first time.

La Alma is a tabaxi man and former Paramount Champion of Joaldo Island. As a guest character, he was played through Episode 33: Thunderdome to Episode 38: The People's Champion by Pokay.

Description[]

Appearance[]

La Alma is a short, Tabaxi man with short yellowish-orange fur and darker markings. The fur around his face and palms are lighter, and his tail is thin and tufted. He sports a pair of white leggings with purple flames along the sides and black boots. La Alma wears a Luchador mask at almost all times, which is white furred with an open purple mouth of fangs, purple and yellow eyes and black markings.

Personality[]

Background/History[]

La Alma was trained in the ways of Lucha Libre wrestling by a strong mentor on his home island, where wrestling was highly respected and praised. Eventually he left his home to find other islands where he could further enhance his skills and continue that rush of adrenaline he'd get during each match. This lead him to Joaldo Island, where a massive tournament loved by its people known as the Paramount Tournament was held yearly, riches and fame on the line.

After his first victory of many to come, he was dubbed the Paramount Champion and was then presented a contract by The Barron, a calico tabaxi whom was the official announcer of the tournament. The Barron told him to remain on the island and stay as the champion and he'd remain the champion, no matter how powerful his opponents would be. To force him to stay, after La Alma's win, The Barron poisoned and murdered the old champion and threatened to frame him, promising that if La Alma attempted to leave the Navy would be alerted and he'd be automatically hunted down and imprisoned. With no choice and no where else to go anyways, the wrestler stayed on the island and became a prisoner of The Barron.

For the next years to come, La Alma lived beneath the floors of the tournament's stadium in a run down and jail-like room with just the basic necessities. He'd fight in each battle, and he'd win each tournament, though mostly due to his challengers being paid to win by his captor. He had lost that spark he used to get in every match as he knew all of them were rigged in his favor.

This continued up until the arrival of the Albatrio; Gillion Tidestrider, Jay Ferin and Chip, where La Alma finally lost and eventually was broken free of his contract by the crew of pirates. During his fight against them, they reignited that spark he had lost so long ago, at last not under the imprisonment of The Barron and threat of being captured by the Navy. Once The Barron had officially been defeated, La Alma snuck into an unsuspecting pirates boat and sailed off to wherever the unfamiliar crew would go, his intentions of what he'd do yet not totally clear even to himself, but the idea of becoming a chef is present in his mind.
